The EASY Way to Automatically Add an Affiliate Disclosure to EVERY Blog Post!
Are you sick of having to remember to manually add an affiliate disclosure to the top of your blog posts? Well, my friend, there is an EASY way to automatically add an affiliate disclosure to all your blog posts by hard coding it into your blog—and the best part is you don't have to know how to code!
The answer is simple: Just install the FREE Ad Inserter plugin on WordPress. I have this installed on two of my blogs, and it's great for several reasons:
- It is the EASIEST way to automatically add your affiliate disclosure to every post—without having to think about it. Additionally…
- This plugin lets you easily insert AdSense code to certain pages if you want to make money from ads on your blog
- It lets you insert Amazon Associates codes
- You can choose to turn OFF affiliate disclosures on the posts that don't need them!
And I'm going to walk you through the exact steps of setting up the Ad Inserter plugin to automatically add affiliate disclosures to every blog post. To me, Ad Inserter is the BEST affiliate disclosure plugin (even though that's not technically what it's made for). Here we go:
Step 1: Log in to your WordPress dashboard and go to Plugins > Add New and search for “ad inserter”
Step 2: Click “Install”
Step 3: Click “Activate”
You will be automatically taken to your Installed Plugins page
Step 4: Click “Settings”
Step 5: Type your affiliate disclosure into the black box.
You can even use basic HTML to add things like italics (<em>italicized text</em>) or a hyperlink (<a href=”http://yoursitehere.com”>hyperlinked text</a>).
NOTE: I am NOT a lawyer, so please read the official FTC guidelines on affiliate disclosures to see what is required in order for an affiliate disclosure to be compliant with regulations.
Step 6: Scroll down and select “Before Content”
OPTIONAL: Click the “Show” button and scroll down until you see the CSS box. If you want your spacing to look exactly like mine (where the affiliate disclosure is closer to the title so it doesn't look like part of the blog post itself), then use my exact CSS code. Copy and paste this: margin: -20px 0px 20px 0px;
Step 7: Click “Save All Settings”
Step 8: Go to one of your blog posts and admire your new affiliate disclosure!
Wasn't that easy? Now you know how to automatically add an affiliate disclosure to every blog post—without even having to think about it!
How to Turn OFF Affiliate Disclosures on Certain Posts
Sometimes, you may want to turn off your affiliate disclosure on certain posts. You should ONLY do this on posts that DO NOT CONTAIN affiliate links.
Here's how to do that with Ad Inserter:
Step 1: Log into your WordPress dashboard and go to Settings > Ad Inserter

Step 2: Select your affiliate disclosure's “block”

Step 3: Click “Lists”

Step 4: Select “Post IDs” and select the posts on which you'd like to turn OFF affiliate disclosures

Step 5: Click “Save Settings”

AFTER

You can also choose to turn off affiliate disclosures on specific categories, URLs, tags, and more. But I think using Post IDs is the simplest thing to do.
